The girls didn't have school today so we took this chance to get Daddy to play hooky as well and we all headed out to a local family-owned farm. It's become our family tradition to go for apples at Brenna's birthday and for strawberries at Molly's birthday. We'll go back in a few weeks for pumpkins as well. The girls love the orchards, hayfields and best of all, animals! Molly was particularly taken with their dozen billy goats while Brenna was happier jumping on all the hay bales.
Years ago during a visit when Molly was small, one of the farm's beautiful Golden Retreivers followed us around all day. When we went to the little market to pay for our things we found out why -the dog's name was Molly too! Every time we called for our Molly, the dog dutifully trotted over to obey. So now at every visit, Molly looks for her "friend Molly Dog" and I try to get a photo of them.
The weather was perfect and now I'm off to find recipes for all these apples we brought home!
